Javier Sánchez Broto (25-08-1971) began his professional sports career playing for the Real Zaragoza. After spending eleven years in the club of his homeland, he signed up for the Villarreal C.F., where he remained for three seasons, and afterwards moved on to Málaga C.F. and C.D. Castellón.. In the year 2000 he began is Scottish venture, first joining Airdrie F.C. and later on Livingston F.C.. On January 2003 he moved on to one of the most emblematic teams in Scotland, the Celtic F.C..
During the 03-04 season he returned to Spain to play for the Real Murcia C.F. in Primera División. The next season (04-05) he signed up for Getafe C.F. on this club’s debut in Primera División.
But Javier Sánchez Broto is a different kind of goalkeeper, because he didn’t limit himself to just staying between the posts. In the year 2000, four years before retiring from his career as a professional player, and partially motivated by the difficulties he’d always experienced when trying to find keeper-specific gear, he decided to open a store dedicated exclusively to catering to the goalkeeper’s specific needs, gaining him the respect and admiration of all keepers – a sector that, until the creation of Soloporteros, had always been given much less than they deserved.
After many years of intense hard work, Soloporteros has become an international reference for the goalkeeping world, not only on a commercial level, but also by organising all kinds of events for the football goalkeeper: In Search of the Keeper of the Future, Battles, summer camps, goalkeeper schools and much more, which make Soloporteros a one-of-a-kind enterprise within the football world, and the key element which makes this marvellous project possible is Javier Sánchez Broto.
